Yamalo-Nenets Okrug Awards Tourism Grants to Boost Regional Economy

A competition for tourist grants in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has concluded, with entrepreneurs from Novy Urengoy, Gubkinsky, and Tarko-Sale winning funding for innovative projects. Out of 16 applications, only 3 were deemed the best.

The winning projects include a new roadside service at the 'Karamovsky' post in Novy Urengoy, set to be completed by 2027. This will feature a 30-room hotel and other facilities to cater to travellers.

Gubkinsky will also see a modern roadside service by 2029, boasting a gas station, car wash, repair shop, hostel, café, and store. Meanwhile, Tarko-Sale plans to launch glamping sites near Lake Okunevoye by 2027, offering comfortable outdoor accommodation.

Grant funds can be used for construction, equipment, rentals, registration, staff training, and exhibitions. However, winners must co-finance their projects, covering at least 70% of the cost themselves.

The entrepreneurs entrusted with these tourism projects are expected to begin operations between 2028 and 2030. The grant competition has stimulated entrepreneurial activity and supported promising tourism projects in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, contributing to its economic and cultural development.
