Vietnam Boosts Halal Exports to Turkey, Aiming for $2.5 Trillion Global Market

Vietnam is expanding its Halal product exports to Turkey, aiming to capitalise on the global Halal market's immense value, currently over US$2.5 trillion. Turkey, a major consumer and processing hub, is welcoming Vietnamese Halal-certified goods as Vietnam emerges as a reliable supplier.

Vietnam's strategy involves developing a comprehensive Halal ecosystem to boost exports and solidify its position in global value chains. VIETRADE is actively collaborating with relevant partners to foster sustainable Halal cooperation with Turkey. Bilateral trade between the two nations has already surpassed $2 billion in 2024, with Vietnam being Turkey's second-largest trading partner in ASEAN.

The global demand for certified Halal products and services is surging, with Halal certification serving as a benchmark for safety, hygiene, and quality. However, Vietnam faces challenges in entering the Turkish Halal market, including stringent certification requirements and the lack of mutual recognition of Halal certificates. To overcome these hurdles, a hybrid seminar was held to strengthen trade and investment in Halal products and services between the two countries. Vietnamese companies are exporting Halal-certified processed food, agricultural products, beverages, tourism services, and logistics to Turkey, marking the expansion of Halal market cooperation.
