UK Companies Explore Costa Rica PPPs for Infrastructure Growth
A delegation of five British companies, including Arup, Bechtel, QGMI, Steer Group, and WSP, recently visited Costa Rica to explore business opportunities and strategic alliances in the country's infrastructure sector. The companies, which have expressed interest in public-private partnerships (PPPs), held meetings with local officials and discussed innovative, sustainable solutions aligned with the UK's clean growth agenda.
During their visit, the British companies met with key figures such as Congresswoman Carolina Delgado and representatives of the National Concessions Council. They also held discussions with various ministries, indicating a broad interest in Costa Rica's infrastructure landscape. Many of the visiting companies have established offices in Latin America, suggesting a regional expansion strategy. While in Costa Rica, the delegation focused on PPPs as a means to finance and develop large infrastructure projects, a model that is common in both the UK and Costa Rica. The UK Ambassador, Ben Lyster-Binns, highlighted the companies' commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions, reflecting the UK's clean growth agenda.
The British companies' visit to Costa Rica signals a growing interest in the country's infrastructure sector, particularly in the realm of public-private partnerships. As Costa Rica continues to develop its infrastructure, it is likely that more international companies will explore opportunities in the region, bringing with them innovative solutions and expertise.
