Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa reveals the Singapore Oceanarium, set to hold a grand opening on July 23.
The Singapore Oceanarium, a pioneering marine education and sustainability institute, reopened its doors on July 24, 2025, offering visitors an immersive journey through the wonders of the ocean. Located at Resorts World Sentosa, the Oceanarium is a certified Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy building, utilizing solar power and smart design to minimize its environmental impact.
The Oceanarium, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Singapore, spans 49 hectares and is home to world-class attractions like Universal Studios Singapore and Adventure Cove Waterpark. It is three times larger than its predecessor, SEA Aquarium, and represents the next frontier for marine education and sustainability.
The Oceanarium's Chief Executive Officer, Tan Hee Teck, stated that the institute aims to inspire a new generation of ocean stewards. To achieve this goal, the Oceanarium features 22 immersive zones that take visitors on a journey across various marine environments.
Key named zones include Ocean Wonders, which highlights one of the largest kreisel habitats housing thousands of moon jellies. Singapore’s Coast features mangrove-inspired environments celebrating local biodiversity. Ancient Waters and Conquering Land display prehistoric marine animals and life-sized dinosaur animatronics. Migrators focus on open water ecosystems, while Open Ocean is home to Reef Manta Rays and Zebra Sharks with a massive 36-meter viewing panel.
Other zones, such as Whale Fall and Sea Mount, educate on marine protection efforts, while Hallway of Hope serves as an educational zone for children about ocean conservation. Spirit of Exploration showcases the Jewel of Muscat, a ninth-century Arabian dhow, and Pier Adventure offers a suspended web play area for children.
The entrance begins with a zone called DROP OF WATER, indicating a thematic journey through ocean history. While the full list of all 22 zones by name is not wholly listed in public sources, these highlights illustrate the Oceanarium’s scope, combining education, immersion, conservation, and marine biodiversity.
Adjacent to the Singapore Oceanarium, the Research and Learning Centre supports its mission to further education, marine research, and conservation. Guests can explore zones like Ocean Wonders, Singapore's Coast, Ancient Waters, Conquering Land, Migrators, Open Ocean, Reef Manta Rays, Zebra Sharks, Whale Fall and Sea Mount, Hallway of Hope, Spirit of Exploration, Pier Adventure, Explorer’s Nook, and Singapore Oceanarium Store.
The Singapore Oceanarium, one of Southeast Asia's leading marine institutes, is part of RWS, which also offers world-class entertainment, six unique luxury hotels, the premier Resorts World Convention Centre, and a casino. In 2023, RWS was inducted into the TTG Travel Hall of Fame after being named "Best Integrated Resort" for 10 consecutive years at the TTG Travel Awards.
The Oceanarium is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and holds membership in both World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and Southeast Asian Zoo and Aquarium Association. It has forged meaningful partnerships with top academic institutions for marine research, including a five-year applied research collaboration with the National University of Singapore and a two-year research collaboration with the Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang Technological University on climate resilience and marine conservation.
Visitors can explore the Singapore Oceanarium daily from 10 am to 7 pm, with some exceptions on specific dates. The Oceanarium is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in marine life, sustainability, and education, offering a unique and immersive experience that combines entertainment, education, and conservation.
