Refreshing abode found in Experimental Marais, making a warm welcome for the hospitality industry returnees

In the heart of the Haut Marais district, childhood friends Olivier Bon, Pierre-Charles Cros, Romeé de Goriainoff, and Xavier Padovani have introduced the first-ever flagship hotel of their global hospitality brand, Experimental, to Paris. The hotel, known as Experimental Marais, recently took over the former Sinner hotel and features a design by renowned Parisian designer Tristan Auer.

The hotel offers a mix of classic French style, ecclesiastical design details, and bold architecture, housed in a former Orange telecoms building. The 43 guest rooms range in size from entry-level rooms of 20 sqm to the Suite, which underwent an effortless renovation with creamy neutrals and design collectables. Bathrooms come equipped with products from La Bruket, Japanese toilets, huge rain showers, and Experimental-branded robes.

Sinner's religiously-themed restaurant has been transformed into a retro-inspired dining space, with high tables and stools replaced by cosy brown leather bistro banquettes, and the previous black carpet swapped for a 1970s-style abstract design. The atmosphere is a fusion of grand chandeliers and candelabras for a soft candlelit dining experience.

The Skyline Suite, located on the fifth floor, offers a Parisian apartment-like experience with a chilled-out living room that can be transformed for daytime lounging or evening entertainment. The bathroom features a Serge Gainsbourg-inspired tub and deep red tiles, as well as a stunning view of Paris' iconic zinc rooftops. Deluxe rooms on the third and fourth floors, and even connecting five mixed-category rooms for a substantial 150 sqm of space, are considered the best in the house.

The easy-to-drink "Travellers Cocktails," pre-batched by the Experimental Cocktail Club, are available in the mini bar, alongside treats from Parisian pastry chef Arnaud Larher. The restaurant, currently Paris' hottest reservation, offers a fusion of classic New York chophouse dishes and French delicacies, with crowd-pleasing options such as Rockefeller oysters and flamed grilled cockerel topped with paprika.

The hotel's spa offers treatments courtesy of cult Austrian brand Suzanne Kaufmann, including facial treatments and bespoke massages, as well as an atmospheric Roman bath and steam room. The hotel bar serves a selection of well-executed classic American cocktails like Manhattans and Martinis.

Experimental Marais is the first flagship hotel for the Experimental Group, combining their signature style of warmth, relaxed elegance, and refined taste with the character of the Marais neighborhood. The hotel boasts velvet chairs, bold patterns, and a prominent bar that attracts locals and discerning visitors, making it a vibrant center for those seeking the culturally and fashionably rich heart of Paris.

Experimental Marais is located at 116 Rue du Temple, Paris 75003, France; www.experimentalmarais.com.

Guests at Experimental Marais can expect a fusion of different styles, from vintage-inspired dining spaces to chic accommodations, immersing themselves in a lifestyle that blends the charms of the Marais neighborhood with the refined taste of the Experimental Group. Whether exploring home-and-garden destinations or venturing out for travel adventures, a relaxed stay at Experimental Marais offers the perfect home base for fashionable and culturally rich experiences in Paris.
