Ordnance Survey's New Book 'Outstanding Walks Lake District' Hits Shelves Oct 7

Ordnance Survey's new book, 'Outstanding Walks Lake District', is set to hit shelves on Tuesday 7 October, priced at £25. The guide, compiled by Vivienne Crow over two decades of exploration, offers a wealth of walking routes for all levels and abilities. The book comes packed with features to enhance your walking experience. Each of the 60 walks - including 27 short walks, 18 half-day walks, and 15 full-day hikes - is accompanied by a three-month premium OS Maps subscription. This allows users to download routes via QR codes and share their adventures. The book also highlights 48 'don't miss' sites and 42 scenic photo locations across the lakes, coasts, woodlands, and fells. Author Vivienne Crow shares her personal favorite walk around Crummock Water. Nick Giles OBE, Ordnance Survey's Managing Director for Leisure, praises the book as a 'fabulous compendium' of walking ideas across Cumbria and the Lake District National Park. Ordnance Survey is using National GetOutside Day to encourage more people to explore the great outdoors, aiming to reverse the winter drop in walking numbers. The book is available from the OS Shop, and Ordnance Survey offers licensing for OS maps in print, online, and film formats, with press contact at [email protected] or +44 23 8005 5565.
