Nordhorn, a city in Germany, recently hosted delegations from five of its partner cities - Coevorden (Netherlands), Montivilliers (France), Reichenbach (Germany, Saxony), Malbork (Poland), and Rieti (Italy) - for the 20th Festival of Cultures and the Canal Festival.

The Festival of Cultures, an event aimed at bringing together people of different origins with steadily growing success, took place at Kloster Frenswegen. The parallel Water City Weekend provided opportunities for cross-border contact-making in a relaxed atmosphere.

During the Festival, Nordhorn's economic promoters and city building director, Thimo Weitemeier, held discussions with their counterparts from the partner cities. The guests were also invited to explore the various stations of the Canal Festival by canoe.

The municipal partnership committee and the associated support association of Nordhorn extended the invitation to the delegations from the partner cities. The partners' representatives who participated in the discussions with Thimo Weitemeier were not explicitly named, but the Partnerschaftskomitee, including members such as Hermann Brünink and Heinrich Hüseman, represents the city's partner relationships and could have been involved in such discussions.

The partner cities could potentially be represented with action stands at future Festivals of Cultures. At the action stand this year, members presented delicacies from the partner cities, delighting the guests.

The weekend concluded with a farewell dinner by the Vechtesee before the guests departed for home. All guests were enthusiastic about the colorful atmosphere at Kloster Frenswegen and the warm hospitality extended by Nordhorn.

The guests are not only attending the Festival of Cultures; they are also partaking in the Canal Festival, adding another layer of excitement to their visit. The events have provided an excellent platform for establishing new contacts and strengthening existing ties, making the 20th Festival of Cultures and Canal Festival a resounding success.
