Nominee for ADAC Tourism Prize NRW: Schwebedrom

The ADAC Tourism Award NRW is set to honour the best tourism initiatives in North Rhine-Westphalia for the third time this year, with six nominated projects competing for the prestigious title. Among the contenders are Urland in Lippe by Lippe Tourismus & Marketing GmbH and Schwebodrom in Wuppertal by Zeitreise Schwebebahn GmbH.

Urland, Germany's largest climate park, offers a unique climate experience world, an archaeological open-air museum, and a nature conservation large project. Schwebodrom, on the other hand, takes visitors on an interactive time journey, including a virtual reality tour in the original 1900 Schwebebahn wagon.

However, the exact details of the other four nominated projects are not explicitly listed in the available information. The intercommunal project "Digital Twin in Rhein-Kreis Neuss" and the Alpenpark Neuss project are the only nominations that can be confirmed at this time.

The "Roman grave Weiden" in Cologne, another significant archaeological treasure, offers a glimpse into Roman burial culture that is almost 2,000 years old. This fascinating site can be explored further on its dedicated website www.roemergrab.de.

In addition to the ADAC Tourism Award, North Rhine-Westphalia is home to other notable initiatives. The "HeimatFreu(n)de" project by Schmallenberger Sauerland Tourismus GmbH, which won the award last year, showcases the region's unique charm. The second place went to the city guide app "SoestTour" by spotAR, while the mixed reality time travel "Essen 1887" by Essen Marketing GmbH took third place.

The "nixdorf 100" program at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in Paderborn, celebrating the 100th birthday of computer pioneer and entrepreneur Heinz Nixdorf, offers a plethora of interactive tours, new exhibitions, family festivals, comedy, and highlights such as the humanoid robot Ameca and a music and light festival. The museum, the world's largest computer museum, can be visited online at www.hnf.de.

For those seeking a more active experience, the "Weg für Genießer" App in Teutoburger Wald offers a digitally tangible 94-kilometer hiking trail with augmented reality at 15 interactive waypoints. This app, accessible at geniesserweg.de, provides additional content such as 360-degree panoramas, video clips, and virtual openings of closed museums and churches.

The winner of the ADAC Tourism Award NRW 2025 will receive a valuable PR package. The award ceremony will take place on 4 November at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein in Essen. Mona Neubaur, NRW Minister for Economics, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy, serves as the patron of the award. Companies, associations, counties, municipalities, communities, private individuals, networks, and working groups with their registered office in North Rhine-Westphalia could apply for the award.

The ADAC Tourism Award NRW 2025 promises to highlight the diverse and innovative tourism initiatives in North Rhine-Westphalia, making it an exciting event for the region's tourism industry.
