The Scottish brothers Ewan, Jamie, and Lachlan Maclean are currently in the midst of an extraordinary challenge: rowing across the Pacific Ocean. Their 28ft carbon fibre boat, named Rose Emily in memory of their late sister, has been their home for the past 100 days as they strive to complete the approximately 14,000 km journey from Peru to Australia faster than anyone has before.

The brothers have constructed their own boat for this non-stop, unsupported row. Powered by two-hour shifts, the boat has no engine and no sail. They have faced numerous challenges during their journey, including violent storms. One such storm saw Lachlan being washed overboard with 40 mph winds and 6-meter waves. However, he was saved by a safety line, allowing his brother Ewan to assist him back on board.

The brothers are dealing with the isolation and hardships of being at sea for extended periods without support. Their physical and mental resilience is being tested daily, but they remain determined to complete their record-breaking row.

The Maclean brothers are not only attempting to set a new record but are also raising funds for clean water projects in Madagascar. Their goal is to raise £1 million for this cause. As of the latest updates, they have raised around £218,000 towards their goal. Flea, the bassist of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, has offered his support and has helped increase awareness and attract contributions to their cause.

Flea joined the brothers on their podcast, "Dinner with the Macleans," discussing his own experiences with perseverance and the value of hard work in achieving success. He emphasized the importance of staying motivated and focused on one's goals, especially in challenging circumstances. Flea shared his own experiences with the physical and emotional demands of being in a long-standing band, including touring for years in a van and eating poor-quality roadside food.

The podcast conversation between Flea and the Maclean brothers is available on Spotify and YouTube. A link to donate to the Maclean brothers' cause is also provided, allowing people to support their record-breaking row and their mission to provide clean water to those in need.
