Growing Interests Among Indonesian Tourists towards Kazakhstan
In recent years, interest in Kazakhstan among Indonesian tourists has been on the rise, according to Indonesian Ambassador Mohammad Fajrul Rahman. This trend has led to discussions between the two countries about enhancing air communication and promoting historical and spiritual attractions to Indonesian tourists.
The Ambassador believes that this route will provide a convenient means of air travel and allow Indonesian tourists to get acquainted with the historical and spiritual attractions of Turkestan. However, specific details about recent initiatives in this area are not widely documented.
Similarly, while Kazakhstan has been actively collaborating with countries like India in promoting charter flights and joint tourism forums, there is a lack of explicit public reports on similar initiatives with Indonesia regarding pilgrimage transit flights. This is particularly significant in the Central Asian region, where Muslim populations make Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
In the sports sector, Kazakhstan has been focusing on sports diplomacy and cooperation with international partners, notably with the United States. These initiatives aim to enhance sports professionalism and community involvement among Kazakh youth and sports organizations. However, there is no current explicit mention of Kazakhstan-Indonesia bilateral cooperation in the sports field.
Despite the lack of detailed, publicly available evidence of bilateral cooperation evolution specifically between Kazakhstan and Indonesia regarding transit flights for pilgrims and national sports promotion, the parties have expressed interest in furthering their partnership. During a meeting in Astana, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzakhmetov, and the Indonesian Ambassador discussed potential opportunities for collaboration.
Myrzakhmetov values the existing partnership between Kazakhstan and Indonesia and is interested in its further development. He appreciates Indonesia's achievements in sports and tourism and sees them as potential examples for Kazakhstan. In particular, he believes that Indonesia's experience can help Kazakh athletes achieve high results in badminton, a sport that is becoming increasingly popular in Kazakhstan.
The competition at the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana provided an opportunity to promote Kazakh national sports on an international stage. Indonesian athletes showed good results in the games, competing in Kazakh national sports such as traditional archery, jumby aty, and Kazakh kuresi.
The parties agreed to discuss issues of air communication with relevant bodies of both countries in order to simplify tourist travel and develop mutual tourism. Myrzakhmetov believes that such collaboration could prove beneficial for both countries, allowing Indonesian tourists to discover the rich history and culture of Kazakhstan while boosting tourism in both countries.
The Ambassador and Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzakhmetov, have expressed interest in enhancing Kazakhstan's lifestyle offerings for Indonesian tourists, possibly including travel experiences and sports events, as a means to foster a stronger partnership between the two countries. Myrzakhmetov, impressed by Indonesia's achievements in sports and tourism, particularly its badminton prowess and unique cultural attractions, believes such collaboration would allow Indonesian tourists to immerse in Kazakhstan's rich history and culture while boosting tourism in both countries.
