Fundraising Event in Dusseldorf: Biker4kids Successfully Gathers €90,000 for Children's Hospice Support
On Wednesday, June 25th, the annual fundraising event organised by Biker4kids took place at the grill area in the Freizeitpark Langfort, Langenfeld. Over 2000 participants joined the motorcycle parade to the Rheinwiesen and back, culminating in a celebration filled with joy and gratitude.
The guest of honour for the event was Robert Rademacher, the 85-year-old manager of the Automeile Höherweg. The core team of Biker4kids, consisting of around 30 members, not only organised the annual procession but are active at various events throughout the year, collecting donations for the Ambulant Children and Youth Hospice Service (AKHD).
The total amount raised during the event was a staggering 90,000 euros. This significant sum was distributed to three causes: 60,000 euros went to the AKHD, 25,000 euros to the Verein der Freunde und Unterstützer der Kinderhospizarbeit Düsseldorf (VdFU), and another 5,000 euros to a special fund.
The AKHD team was amazed by the total amount of the donation. Petra Kiwitt, the managing director of the German Children and Youth Hospice Service, thanked the Biker4kids for their commitment. Since 2008, the Biker4kids have donated a total of 520,000 euros to the AKHD.
The VdFU, founded by Biker4kids ten years ago, also received another 25,000 euros. This organisation provides support for families of children with life-shortening illnesses, covering costs such as dog therapy, ambulance transports, medication, music, activities for siblings, financial aid in times of need, and funeral assistance.
One of the beneficiaries of the VdFU's assistance, Morena, personally thanked the bikers. Morena's dolphin-assisted swimming therapy, made possible by the VdFU, brought about significant progress in her condition. Morena enjoyed the festival in Langenfeld with her sister and parents.
The special fund, which can fund individual support beyond the city limits of Düsseldorf, was topped up with an additional 5,000 euros. Since 2023, money has been going into this fund to provide further assistance to those in need.
The Biker4kids core team is involved in numerous events throughout the year, in addition to organising the annual procession, to collect donations for the AKHD. Their relentless dedication and hard work continue to make a profound impact on the lives of many children and their families.
