Experienced a 14,500-mile journey across 22 U.S. states and Canada, spent 25 nights in the vehicle, in my electric Mustang Mach-E. If you're contemplating an electric vehicle purchase, consider taking the leap.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is making waves in the world of electric vehicles (EVs), particularly in the realm of long-distance travel. Recently, Leon Frank Pfeiffer embarked on a 14,500-mile road trip across 22 states and British Columbia in a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, setting a compelling example of the vehicle's capabilities.

Equipped with the extended range battery, the Mach-E can travel approximately 270 to 300 miles on a single charge, depending on the drivetrain. Real-world range can vary but typically falls around 243 miles for the standard range model in everyday driving conditions.

For long road trips, managing charging needs is crucial. Owners employ strategies such as using DC fast charging (up to 150 kW) through CCS Type 1 ports, charging to about 80% capacity using Level Two chargers, planning trips around charging stations, and utilizing driver-assistance features like Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free system.

Leon and his partner used these strategies to their advantage during their four-month adventure, sleeping in the Mach-E for 25 nights and staying inside state and national parks with climate control running. They also found that using apps like PlugShare helped manage charging during their journey.

Jason Stiesi, on the other hand, shared a different perspective, stating that he has to run a diesel vehicle due to the size of his dogs and the lack of suitable EV options. However, stories like Leon's help reshape public perception, replacing outdated myths with inspiring real-world success.

Mark Pavelko expressed an emotionally charged reaction, stating that stories like Leon's push back on the skepticism and doubt surrounding EVs. Many EV owners today are finding similar confidence and satisfaction in their vehicles, with some reporting hundreds of thousands of miles on their Mach-E.

The Mach-E California Route 1 trim, designed for long road trips, offers extended range, good efficiency, and regenerative braking, making it an ideal choice for those embarking on long journeys.

In the face of range anxiety, Leon mentioned that they only got "skunked" at a charger once but simply drove 12 miles to the next one. Range anxiety fades with experience, and real-world range often exceeds expectations when driven smartly.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is proving that EV ownership isn't just for the tech-savvy or the environmentally conscious, but it's more accessible and practical than many believe. For daily news coverage about cars, follow Aram Krajekian on X and LinkedIn.

Curtis Nikkel, a fellow Mach-E owner, expressed curiosity about Leon's trip and asked to see a map of the path traveled. Long-distance travel in EVs like the Mustang Mach-E is possible, even in remote areas and national parks.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E, with its extended range battery, showcases the potential for electric vehicles (EVs) in long-distance travel, as demonstrated by Leon Frank Pfeiffer's 14,500-mile road trip. Incorporating technology such as DC fast charging and driver-assistance features like Ford’s BlueCruise system, along with planning trips around charging stations and utilizing apps like PlugShare, can transform a Mach-E into an ideal vehicle for travel. Furthermore, the California Route 1 trim of the Mustang Mach-E, designed for long road trips, offers extended range, good efficiency, and regenerative braking, making it an attractive choice for individuals embarking on extended journeys.
