Digital government services integration across India, comprising approximately 2,000 e-services, successfully completed on DigiLocker and e-District platforms by NeGD.

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), a section 8 not-for-profit company under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, has made significant strides in digitalising government services in India. Established in 2009, NeGD has been providing technical and advisory support to central and state ministries and departments under the Digital India Programme.

NeGD's integrated services cater to a broad spectrum of citizen needs, including certificates, welfare schemes, utility payments, and other essential facilities. The services are available on platforms like DigiLocker and e-District, enabling citizens across all 36 states and union territories to access close to 2,000 digital services.

The states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka currently offer the most e-Government services, with Maharashtra leading the way with access to 254 services. Delhi follows closely with 123 services, while Karnataka and Assam offer 113 and 102 services, respectively. Uttar Pradesh provides 86 services, and Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir each offer 77 services. Andhra Pradesh provides 76 services, Gujarat offers 64, Tamil Nadu and Goa extend 63 services each, Haryana offers 60, and Himachal Pradesh delivers 58.

DigiLocker has emerged as a robust pillar of India's digital public infrastructure, addressing challenges of interoperability, data security, and multi-stakeholder coordination. This development marks a major leap in realizing the vision of the Digital India program, fostering paperless and mobile governance and contributing directly to the Sustainable Development Goals.

NeGD plans to further expand the portfolio of e-Government services by adopting emerging technologies through an AI-driven approach. Structured training programs and workshops will be conducted to strengthen awareness at the state level, while continued innovation will ensure greater inclusivity and improved last-mile delivery of services.

In addition to DigiLocker, NeGD has developed and is managing several National Public Digital Platforms such as Entity Locker, UMANG, OpenForge, API Setu, myScheme, India Stack Global, Meri Pehchaan, UX4G, and more. These platforms aim to streamline and simplify the process of accessing government services for citizens.

This expansion of services is not only a testament to the success of the Digital India program but also a significant step towards a more efficient and accessible government for all Indian citizens.
