Development selects Hill Group for initial residential phase at Oxford North project
In the heart of Oxford, a new life sciences district is taking shape, and the first homes at the Oxford North site are set to be developed by the Hill Group.
The Hill Group, in partnership with Thomas White Oxford, is currently in discussions with Oxford City Council for detailed planning permission to deliver the new homes at Oxford North's Canalside. The masterplan encompasses 23 acres of open spaces, including three new parks, and significant investment into the walking, cycling, bus, and highway networks.
Oxford North, a project spanning 64 acres, is set to include new laboratories, workspaces for biomedical science, new homes, public parks, a hotel, nursery, small shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Hill Group has secured 8.64 acres (3.5 hectares) of land at Canalside, the west area of the site south of the A40, which will deliver the first phase of new homes, both market and affordable. A minimum of 35% of the 480 new homes will be affordable housing.
Thomas White Oxford has selected Hill Group as the development partner for the first phase of new homes at Oxford North, citing the national housebuilder's experience, knowledge of the local area, and strong sustainability credentials as key factors in their decision. Savills, a real estate advisory firm, acted as the agent for Thomas White Oxford in the selection process.
With over 20 years of experience in placemaking and residential development project delivery, combined with their local market knowledge and recent work at Mosaics, Oxford, the Hill Group brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
William Donger, director of Thomas White Oxford, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Hill Group was chosen as the development partner due to their national housebuilder experience, knowledge of the local area, and strong sustainability credentials."
The Oxford North project, once completed, is expected to create 4,500 new science and technology jobs and housing for approximately 1,500 people in 480 new homes. The project is a significant step forward in Oxford's ongoing development as a hub for life sciences and innovation.
