Breeze Airways Expands Internationally, Creates 200+ Jobs in Raleigh-Durham
Breeze Airways, the US-based low-cost carrier, has received the green light from the US Federal Aviation Administration to expand internationally. The airline will establish a new crew base in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (RDU), creating over 200 new jobs. It will initially fly to Cancun, Mexico (CUN); Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ); and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).
Breeze Airways' international expansion comes after it reported its first net profit, driven by improved operational efficiencies, increased passenger demand, and optimized route networks. The airline promises the same passenger experience on international flights as on domestic ones, including fast Wi-Fi, premium seating, and beverage options.
The airline chose these destinations for its business model, focusing on serving airports without international flights and desirable locations with limited service. Breeze Airways attributes its first net profit to its unique approach to affordable air travel and increasing repeat guests. It is the first airline in over a decade to undergo the US flag carrier certification process.
Breeze Airways will launch seasonal flights to Cancun from Norfolk, VA on 10 January 2026; Charleston, SC on 17 January; New Orleans, LA on 7 February; and Providence, RI on 14 February. It will connect RDU to Punta Cana on 4 March and Montego Bay on 5 March, and Tampa, FL to Montego Bay on 11 February.
Breeze Airways' international expansion, starting with a new crew base in Raleigh-Durham, promises affordable air travel to popular destinations. The airline's unique approach and focus on passenger experience have contributed to its first net profit and growing repeat guest base.
